Catch Up

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long since I updated. I guess life just got busy, and I got lazy. I will try to do better. It is one of my New Years’ goals.

September saw Aislin learn to walk. She took her first steps on September 3. She was holding on to the edge of our bed and I was sitting on the floor getting her bed made when she turned to me and took 3 steps and fell into my arms. She was so excited for herself. As we were teaching her to walk between Jordan and I she would get so excited and lunge into our arms and laugh. She thought it was so funny. It was only a couple of weeks later she was on her own, walking all over the place. She is now running.

Aislin got her very own highchair and loves to feed herself. Since then she has been introduced to a whole host of new foods. Some of the foods she loves are carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, cheese, bananas, and apples, but really pretty much anything she can get her hands on she likes. Her favorite snack right now is Cheerios.

Now that Aislin is walking, she loves to help me do chores. I hand her the wet clothes from the washer and she loves to put them in the dryer. She then closes the door and I will stand her on the dryer so she can push the button to start it up. She then begins to dance to the beat of the dryer. She pretty much dances to any beat she hears; train going by, dishwasher, vacuum, ECT… anything.

Once the clothes are ready to be folded she hands me each piece of clothing, it may take a lot longer, but she loves to help so who am I to stop her. She hands me the hangers for the clothes that need hanging. She then carries the socks to the bedroom and I’ll lift her up so she can put them in the drawer.

Since her clothes take up the bottom 3 drawers in our dresser, she loves to open them and reorganize her clothes. Isn’t she helpful?

Another way she helps me is to unload the dishwasher. We wash our hands and she will hand me each piece of silverware one at a time. This keeps her busy while I am unloading the rest of the dishes. She’s still learning not to mess with the dirty dishes as I load the dishwasher. She will close the door and push the button to start it though.

I like to use these times to help teach her the names of different pieces of clothing or dishes.

Aislin’s vocabulary has increased dramatically since she turned 1. She says many words. Some of which include; Mama, Dada, Cheese, Jesus, Tree, Up, Spoon, Socks, Boots, Piano, Cookie, Cranky, Stinky, Up, Thank You, Apple, Banana, Poop, Hot, Book, Moon, Cute, Man, Hello, Eat, Night Night, All Done plus others I can’t think of right now. She can repeat almost anything… not always correctly, but she does try. She babbles all the time and loves to “read” her books out loud.

Some of the signs she does are, Milk, Tree, Bath, Poop, Please, More, Eat, Water, Table, Sleep, plus several more I’m forgetting.

She knows many of her body parts too: Head, Hair, Ears, Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Teeth, Tongue, Cheeks, Chin (thanks to uncle Tomas), Shoulders, Elbows, Hands, Belly, Bellybutton, Knees, Toes and Bum.

Since starting to walk/run, she has not gained any weight but has slimmed up quite a bit as she has gotten taller. Although her hair has gotten a bit thicker and longer, we are hoping it will get a growth spurt soon so people won’t keep thinking she’s a boy. Even though we dress her in girly colors.

Aislin has 7 teeth and two sticking partially out. Teething is not a fun experience for our household. Aislin gets cranky and sleepless because she’s in pain. Poor kid. Well that’s all I can think of right now.

I will be updating with lots of pictures from the last few months and will add more as I share those.

Stay tuned.

When I saw that you had finally posted I jumped a little inside! I was bummed however that there were no pictures, I can't wait for more updates.

I have been meaning to email you...this will work. I was hoping you and Aislin, and Jordan if he wants wanted to make a trip up this way, oh say, maybe in May! When our baby is born...I could really use the help and would love to see you and have the company! Let me know what you think...
