What's Wrong With Me? Today October 15, 2010

I can't believe I went from July to September, completely skipping August. I will now go back and start uploading August pictures.

Standing and Sitting. Sept 3, 2010

Aislin was so excited to be able to stand up again. She started walking around the furniture in no time.

It was also nice for her to be able to bend at the waist.

Scars. Sept 3, 2010

Here you can see Aislin's scars. The big one on her leg is just a little bit longer than you can see. The other scar healed even better and runs along her hip socket.

Napping with Dad. Sept 3, 2010

Two sleepy heads.

Purple Pants. Sept 1, 2010

After 6 weeks of the big pink Spica (body) cast Aislin had her cast change on August 31st. Her new cast is from her hips to her ankles with a bar in between. It's also purple. Nice.

We were all so glad to be able to give Aislin real hugs.

Gramma's Girl. July 31, 2010

It's so nice to have my mom come and stay when I need her to. She is amazing, and best of all, Aislin loves her so much.

Princess Heavy Pants. July 31, 2010

After we came home we knew we needed some way for Aislin to sit up straight and be able to do some things for herself. Even with my mom here to help, Aislin needed some independence.
So, brought in the Spica car seat the hospital loaned us and Jordan built a platform to set it on. He also built this cute table so that she could play with her toys and feed herself. Mom and I painted it purple, then I stenciled on "Princess Heavy Pants."

Day 5, Rolling in Style. July 24, 2010

After 3 days, Aislin's epidural was removed so we could pick her up and move her around more. It was so awesome that they had this huge wagon for Aislin to be able to get out of her bed. She was getting a little stir crazy, and so was I. She loved going around the hospital and even going outside.
This is the day we went home. Yay.

Study Buddy. July 21, 2010

Jordan had homework that he had to do while we were in the hospital. This is day two and Aislin wanted Jordan to lay with her. They have her packed with ice to help the swelling go down.

1st Surgery, Left Hip. July 20, 2010

It was an early morning for us getting Aislin ready for her surgery. She was given some medicine that made her goofy before we walked her over to the surgery waiting area. She was so funny singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and just being silly. Jordan and I were falling apart on the inside, but held it together pretty well until the nurse came and carried her away. Aislin didn't even cry, which would be unusual if any stranger tried to hold her.

Jordan and I went down to the cafeteria and ate breakfast. While we were eating, the surgical nurse called to let us know that Aislin was asleep and that she fell asleep well with no crying. Also, to let us know that Doctor H. was making the first incision.

I went to take a nap after a sleepless night. Jordan tried to study for one of his classes.
Jordan came and woke me up to let me know that the surgery was done and that Aislin was waking up. She would be coming to her room soon.

We could hear her coming down the hall, crying for me and Jordan. It was really hard to not be able to pick her up and comfort her right away. Once we got her in her bed, (she was being wheeled back in the crib bed) I was able to lay next to her and nurse her. That really helped to comfort her.
Here are some pictures from that afternoon. She was watching Word World.

It was so nice when our night nurse said that I could hold her on my lap if I wanted to. She really liked it too.

It didn't hurt her to move her around because she had an epidural in for the first 3 days of her surgery.

Day Before 1st Surgery. July 19, 2010

Enjoying her last day of freedom. We stayed the night at the Shriner's hospital because she was the first surgery of the day at 7am. They needed to be able to get her oxygen and heart rate monitered over the night.

Here she is playing with this cute tree play structure.

This is the bed they had for her when we arrived, but she has never slept in a crib before, so we asked for a regular hospital bed instead so I could sleep with her.
She still had fun playing in it though.

Oh Hai. July 16, 2010

Harley and Tank wanted to say hi.

Anatomy of a Tantrum. July 16 2010

It was probably wrong for me to take these pictures instead of immediately comforting my distressed child. But I just couldn't resist.

The amazing thing is that almost immediately after a tantrum, she gets really happy.

Daddy's Girl July 13, 2010

"Touch The Wind" July 10, 2010

One of Aislin's favorite things to do is what she calls, "Touch the wind." She loves when Jordan holds her up so she can feel the air from the window unit.

It's a good work out for Jordan too.
