Aislin just loves to help me. Here she is reorganizing the tupperware containers. Thanks kid.
Showing of her style.
You know you wish you could rock this look.
Grandma Robin is such a good listener.
Please ignore the remnants of my spaghetti dinner on the corners of my mouth...Thank you and goodnight.
My mom and Aislin making the "Dempsey Face" (Dempsey was my mom's mom, and would make this same exact face when she was shocked or surprised, or anytime really)
Aislin was loving the swings at the park.
"Peek-A-Boo Mommy!"
Aislin was trying to figure out why the ground was curved.
She figured it out though.
"I can do this."
She had fun going down the slide over and over and over....ect.
If you look closely you can see my mom's hair. She likes to take naps when she's in Utah. Something about the thinner air... Plus she has some great napping buddies.
Checking out the pumpkins before we carve them. Mikey was too.
"This feels weird and icky, Mama!"
So I helped her.
Aislin has never taken a pacifier, but we got some from my baby shower. She discovered this one and stuck it in her mouth. She thinks it so funny to chew on. So this is a rare sight.
Enjoying the last days of warm weather before the snow starts coming.
"Kisses, Mama!''
Stopping to smell the roses.
Here she is running away from me, when I tried to take her in.
So we stayed outside and discovered some treasures.
We spent as much time outside as we could while it was still warm enough.
"Look Mama, a plane."
Helping me sort the laundry.
Going Trick-Or-Treating for the first time. I made her a Dandelion costume. My friend Krista helped me to read the pattern for the body suit. Thanks Krista.
I think her favorite part was to knock on the doors. She also always said Thank you when they put candy in her bucket.
Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long since I updated. I guess life just got busy, and I got lazy. I will try to do better. It is one of my New Years’ goals.
September saw Aislin learn to walk. She took her first steps on September 3. She was holding on to the edge of our bed and I was sitting on the floor getting her bed made when she turned to me and took 3 steps and fell into my arms. She was so excited for herself. As we were teaching her to walk between Jordan and I she would get so excited and lunge into our arms and laugh. She thought it was so funny. It was only a couple of weeks later she was on her own, walking all over the place. She is now running.
Aislin got her very own highchair and loves to feed herself. Since then she has been introduced to a whole host of new foods. Some of the foods she loves are carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, cheese, bananas, and apples, but really pretty much anything she can get her hands on she likes. Her favorite snack right now is Cheerios.
Now that Aislin is walking, she loves to help me do chores. I hand her the wet clothes from the washer and she loves to put them in the dryer. She then closes the door and I will stand her on the dryer so she can push the button to start it up. She then begins to dance to the beat of the dryer. She pretty much dances to any beat she hears; train going by, dishwasher, vacuum, ECT… anything.
Once the clothes are ready to be folded she hands me each piece of clothing, it may take a lot longer, but she loves to help so who am I to stop her. She hands me the hangers for the clothes that need hanging. She then carries the socks to the bedroom and I’ll lift her up so she can put them in the drawer.
Since her clothes take up the bottom 3 drawers in our dresser, she loves to open them and reorganize her clothes. Isn’t she helpful?
Another way she helps me is to unload the dishwasher. We wash our hands and she will hand me each piece of silverware one at a time. This keeps her busy while I am unloading the rest of the dishes. She’s still learning not to mess with the dirty dishes as I load the dishwasher. She will close the door and push the button to start it though.
I like to use these times to help teach her the names of different pieces of clothing or dishes.
Aislin’s vocabulary has increased dramatically since she turned 1. She says many words. Some of which include; Mama, Dada, Cheese, Jesus, Tree, Up, Spoon, Socks, Boots, Piano, Cookie, Cranky, Stinky, Up, Thank You, Apple, Banana, Poop, Hot, Book, Moon, Cute, Man, Hello, Eat, Night Night, All Done plus others I can’t think of right now. She can repeat almost anything… not always correctly, but she does try. She babbles all the time and loves to “read” her books out loud.
Some of the signs she does are, Milk, Tree, Bath, Poop, Please, More, Eat, Water, Table, Sleep, plus several more I’m forgetting.
She knows many of her body parts too: Head, Hair, Ears, Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Teeth, Tongue, Cheeks, Chin (thanks to uncle Tomas), Shoulders, Elbows, Hands, Belly, Bellybutton, Knees, Toes and Bum.
Since starting to walk/run, she has not gained any weight but has slimmed up quite a bit as she has gotten taller. Although her hair has gotten a bit thicker and longer, we are hoping it will get a growth spurt soon so people won’t keep thinking she’s a boy.Even though we dress her in girly colors.
Aislin has 7 teeth and two sticking partially out.Teething is not a fun experience for our household. Aislin gets cranky and sleepless because she’s in pain. Poor kid.Well that’s all I can think of right now.
I will be updating with lots of pictures from the last few months and will add more as I share those.
My baby is 1! What!? How did this happen? One year ago today Aislin Rae entered our lives and stole our hearts immediately.
Where oh where does the time go? Aislin is learning lots these days. Some things about her: She blows kisses. She says "Hi" in a whisper voice. Her second tooth broke through on August 24th, and her first tooth is still not all the way out just yet. She gives hugs, we call it "loves" She is very close to walking on her own. She stands unassisted all the time, but just hasn't taken that step yet. If you ask her how old she is she can show you on her fingers. We taught it to her in one night. Edited to Add: Aislin can also do some sign language. She does the sign for "milk'' when she wants to nurse, and the sign for "more'' when she wants to eat.
Aislin, Dadda and I love you more and more every day. We are so thankful for the joy and spirit you bring to our home. We love to watch you learn and grow everyday. You make us laugh all the time with your great expressions and sense of humor. We hope you always have the confidence you seem to have been born with. I am excited to continue our journey as we start this next year of your life. Loves, and Kisses, Mamma
I know I'm almost a month late, but I wanted to write down the changes this month brought. Aislin's first tooth broke forth on July 22nd after a very restless night. She is an awesome crawler and walks around the furniture. She learned to blow kisses and waves hello and goodbye to everyone. She loves her stuffed cat and has figured out how to press her paw to make sound.
I will be updating soon with pictures from our trip to Oregon.. stay tuned.
