1st Surgery, Left Hip. July 20, 2010

It was an early morning for us getting Aislin ready for her surgery. She was given some medicine that made her goofy before we walked her over to the surgery waiting area. She was so funny singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and just being silly. Jordan and I were falling apart on the inside, but held it together pretty well until the nurse came and carried her away. Aislin didn't even cry, which would be unusual if any stranger tried to hold her.

Jordan and I went down to the cafeteria and ate breakfast. While we were eating, the surgical nurse called to let us know that Aislin was asleep and that she fell asleep well with no crying. Also, to let us know that Doctor H. was making the first incision.

I went to take a nap after a sleepless night. Jordan tried to study for one of his classes.
Jordan came and woke me up to let me know that the surgery was done and that Aislin was waking up. She would be coming to her room soon.

We could hear her coming down the hall, crying for me and Jordan. It was really hard to not be able to pick her up and comfort her right away. Once we got her in her bed, (she was being wheeled back in the crib bed) I was able to lay next to her and nurse her. That really helped to comfort her.
Here are some pictures from that afternoon. She was watching Word World.

It was so nice when our night nurse said that I could hold her on my lap if I wanted to. She really liked it too.

It didn't hurt her to move her around because she had an epidural in for the first 3 days of her surgery.
