I Scream For Ice Cream. May 26, 2010

This is Aislin's first real time eating ice cream besides random bites from our spoons. We only started giving it to her because she got an infected spider bite and lost 3lbs in 3 days. So the doctor said to give her whatever she would eat, and she only took a few bites at a time while she was sick. Anyway she's better and we decided to give her a treat. As you can see, she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good to the last drop.

Aislin's Diagnosis. May 25, 2010

Aislin's official diagnosis is Developmental Dislocation (Displaysia) of the Hip (DDH).

Basically the ball on the top of her femur is not in the socket joint, it is above it. She will have to have surgery on both sides. They only do one side at a time. Her Left hip will be done first.

The official name of the surgery is: Left hip open reduction, femeral shortening and rotation osteotomy with possible dega.So in laymen's terms, she will have her bone cut in half and shortened, then rotated and they will open her hip socket up and move her bones to the correct position.

She will be in the hospital for 5 days with an epidural for the first 3 days for pain releif. She will be in a body cast for 6 weeks following surgery and then in an abduction orthosis for six weeks. Then we'll wait a month and do the whole thing again on the otherside.

Then a year later she will have another surgery to remove the pins that held her bones back together.

Her first surgery was scheduled for July 19th.

Here is a picture of what her hips look like. The only difference is that she has the dislocation on both sides.

We were quite shocked that she would need such an intrusive procedure, since she walked right after her first birthday and she hasn't really shown signs that this hurt her.

Farm Country. May 20, 2010

We recently found out about Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. It's cheap and awesome! Which is my kinda place.

I don't know why we take her umbrella stroller with us anywhere, she always just wants to push it.

We saw this cow first. Aislin liked it, until it licked her. Then she wouldn't get near it again.

I don't know what this animal is. I think it's an Alpaca, but I'm probably wrong. Aislin liked to pick up the stray pieces of straw and feed them to the animals.

There is a little building that has fun learning toys that teach all about farming. She loved the little conveyor belt tractor that sent the harvested fruits and veggies to market.

I liked the horsed, but Aislin didn't want to touch them at all.

Though she did try to feed them rocks at one point.

Then she saw some birds and took off after them.

She wasn't too happy when they flew away.

I thought this rabbit had the sweetest hair do.

Aislin was fascinated with this black bunny. She could have sat there all day.

She didn't like getting locked up in jail.

This little pony just stood on this rock the entire time we were there playing king of the mountain. I'm thinking it has Little Man Syndrome.

Aislin was a bit freaked out by one goat that kept bleating. So we moved to the other goats and she tried to give them kisses.

This cute little goat wanted to come home with us. And I wanted to bring it home too.

After a long morning in the hot sun, she fell asleep on the way home while eating her fishy crackers.

Alphabet Soup. May 18, 2010

This girl absolutely loves to take a bath! She would stay in there for hours if we let her. I usually do until her toes and fingers get really pruney and the water is cold.

We bought her these foam letters when she turned 1 and she loves to play with them.

Thanks to these letters and to Word World she now knows all her letters, uppercase and lower.
We are working on the sounds they make now.

Kay. May 17, 2010

Jordan's dad got married on May 8th to Kay. They came to visit us for a few hours so we could meet her.

Aislin was happy to play with Grandpa Jim.

She even sat on Kay's lap, something she rarely does with someone she doesn't know.

Dirt. Again. May 15, 2010

I'm hoping to catch up on all my posts now. Again. I feel like such a slacker when it comes to this blog. Well, not just this blog, but that's neither here nor there. So I'll post the date the pictures where taken in the post title at least until I get to the present.

This sweet innocent face masks the gremlin within.

She loves to take her buddies out and play with them....

until I leave the area... then her true motive bears it's head.

It's dang good thing she's so stinking cute. Though I'm not sure our downstairs neighbors would appreciate the shower of dirt upon their heads no matter how cute she is.
